December 2009

I watched an astonishing number of films in December. Here is, I believe, a mostly complete list (in no particular order) with asterisks next to ones that stood out:

Tideland*
The Uninvited
Eagle Eye
Watchmen: Tales of the Black Frieghter
Texas Chainsaw Massacre* (first time)
Rear Window* (first time)
I Love You, Beth Cooper
Trip With the Teacher
Prime Evil
Satan's Slave
Clerks 2
House Bunny
Hancock
Adventureland*
Hot Rod* (one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time- short on plot, long on humor)
Brothers* (it's about time these two played relations- I've always thought they looked alike)
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button*
Doubt*
Disney's a Christmas Carol (disappointing)
Reincarnation
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid* (Redford/Newman)
Disaster Movie
2012 (unsettling, better after the first 40 minutes or so)
Wonder Woman (animated)
Yojimbo*
Sherlock Holmes* (RDJr.)

As one can easily see, I am a completely undiscriminating viewer. However, I do know good film when I see it.

  1. Adventureland was surprisingly awesome, I thought. One of the better films I saw last year, really. Between that and the zombie movie, I'm becoming kind of a fan of that Michael Cera lookalike. I should learn his name.

  2. It's Jesse Eisenberg- and I pulled that from memory ;). He was also in Squid and the Whale, which you should see if you haven't.

  3. Kind of surprised to see Texas Chainsaw listed as being the first time for you to see it. I haven't seen it in years!
Curious Case was rather interesting. I liked the clocks.
Disney...well, I'm not a huge fan in general. We have, however, enjoyed a few Pixar films since the kids have been around.
    Quite a variety here..

  4. I love the way Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was filmed - very stylized, a "romantic" western. And Redford and Newman are so fantastic together.
